Muhammad bin Bashshar narrated to us: 'Abdur-Rahman bin Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Mansur, from Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd, from Abu Salamah, from Umm Salamah, who said: I did not see the Prophet fast two consecutive months except Sha'ban and Ramadan. A report on this topic is also narrated from 'Aishah. Abu 'Isa said: The hadith of Umm Salamah is hasan. This report has also been narrated from Abu Salamah, from 'Aishah, who said: I did not see the Prophet fast more in any month than in Sha'ban; he fasted all of it, or nearly all of it.
