حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ تُوَاصِلُوا " . قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ " إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنَّ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي " . قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَعَائِشَةَ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَجَابِرٍ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَبَشِيرِ ابْنِ الْخَصَاصِيَةِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ كَرِهُوا الْوِصَالَ فِي الصِّيَامِ . وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُوَاصِلُ الأَيَّامَ وَلاَ يُفْطِرُ .

Nasr bin 'Ali narrated to us: Bishr bin Al-Mufaddal and Khalid bin Al-Harith narrated to us, from Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Do not observe continuous fasting (wisal).’ They said: ‘But you observe continuous fasting, O Messenger of Allah.’ He replied: ‘I am not like you. My Lord provides me with food and drink.’ Reports on this topic are also narrated from 'Ali, Abu Hurairah, 'Aishah, Ibn 'Umar, Jabir, Abu Sa'id, and Bashir bin Al-Khasasiyyah. Abu 'Isa said: The hadith of Anas is hasan sahih. Some scholars acted on this hadith and disliked continuous fasting. It is reported that 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair would fast continuously for days without breaking his fast.
