حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَوْلاَةً، لَنَا يُقَالُ لَهَا لَيْلَى تُحَدِّثُ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ عُمَارَةَ بِنْتِ كَعْبٍ الأَنْصَارِيَّةِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَدَّمَتْ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامًا فَقَالَ " كُلِي " . فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي صَائِمَةٌ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ الصَّائِمَ تُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ إِذَا أُكِلَ عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يَفْرُغُوا " . وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ " حَتَّى يَشْبَعُوا " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَهُوَ أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ شَرِيكٍ .

Mahmud bin Ghaylan narrated to us: Abu Dawud informed us: Shu'bah informed us, from Habib bin Zaid, who said: I heard a freedwoman of ours named Laila narrate from her grandmother Umm 'Umarah bint Ka'b Al-Ansariyyah: The Prophet came to her, and she offered him food. He said, ‘Eat.’ She replied, ‘I am fasting.’ The Messenger of Allah said: ‘When food is eaten in the presence of a fasting person, the angels invoke blessings for him until they finish eating.’ He may have said, ‘until they have eaten their fill.’ Abu 'Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih, and it is more authentic than the report of Sharik.
