'Abdul-Wahhab bin 'Abdul-Hakam Al-Baghdadi Al-Warraq and Abu 'Ammar Al-Husain bin Hurayth narrated to us: They said: Yahya bin Sulaim narrated to us: Isma'il bin Kathir narrated to me, saying: I heard 'Asim bin Laqit bin Sabirah, from his father, who said: I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, tell me about ablution.’ He replied: ‘Perform ablution thoroughly, pass the fingers between the fingers, and draw water deeply into the nose, except when you are fasting.’ Abu 'Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih. The scholars disliked using nasal medication while fasting and held that it breaks the fast; this hadith supports their view.
