Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1809
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ شَرِيكِ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ لاَ يَصْلُحُ أَكْلُ الثُّومِ إِلاَّ مَطْبُوخًا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِذَلِكَ الْقَوِيِّ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَوْلَهُ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ شَرِيكِ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مُرْسَلاً . قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مَلِيحٍ صَدُوقٌ وَالْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ مُقَارِبُ الْحَدِيثِ .

Hannad narrated to us: Waki‘ narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Ishaq, from Sharik ibn Hanbal, from ‘Ali, who said: Eating garlic is not proper unless it is cooked. Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith’s chain is not particularly strong. This has been reported as a statement of ‘Ali, and it has also been reported from Sharik ibn Hanbal from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in mursal form (with the Companion omitted). Muhammad said: ‘Al-Jarrah ibn Malih is truthful; al-Jarrah ibn al-Dahhak is middling in hadith.’

The source distinguishes two similarly named transmitters, al-Jarrah ibn Malih and al-Jarrah ibn al-Dahhak, and gives them different evaluations.
