حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ زَوَّجَنِي أَبِي فَدَعَا أُنَاسًا فِيهِمْ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ انْهَسُوا اللَّحْمَ نَهْسًا فَإِنَّهُ أَهْنَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ ‏" ‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ تَكَلَّمَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ فِي عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْمُعَلِّمِ مِنْهُمْ أَيُّوبُ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ مِنْ قِبَلِ حِفْظِهِ ‏.‏

Ahmad ibn Mani‘ narrated to us: Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Karim Abu Umayyah, from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Harith, who said: My father arranged my marriage, then invited some people, including Safwan ibn Umayyah. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Tear the meat off with your teeth; it is more enjoyable and more wholesome.’ There are also reports on this topic from ‘A’ishah and Abu Hurayrah. Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan (good); we know it only through the report of ‘Abd al-Karim. Some scholars criticized ‘Abd al-Karim al-Mu‘allim because of his memory; Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani was among them.

    The English witness omits the chain from Ahmad ibn Mani‘ through Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah and ‘Abd al-Karim Abu Umayyah.

    Should the full chain be included?
