Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us: ‘Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa‘id al-Ansari, from Malik ibn Anas, from al-Zuhri. (Another route:) Ibn Abi ‘Umar narrated to us: Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from ‘Abd Allah and al-Hasan, the two sons of Muhammad ibn ‘Ali, from their father, from ‘Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade temporary marriage with women during the time of Khaybar and the meat of domesticated donkeys.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic gives a first route ending at al-Zuhri, then introduces another route through al-Zuhri to ‘Abd Allah and al-Hasan and their father. The source as provided does not state further how these routes relate, so both are retained in sequence.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ،
The English witness omits the first route through ‘Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi, Yahya ibn Sa‘id, Malik, and al-Zuhri.
Should the witness preserve both routes?
The English witness correctly identifies Khaybar and domesticated donkeys; no grade or compiler commentary is included in the Arabic source block.
No unresolved meaning issue; this note records the witness's scope.
