Muhammad ibn Wazir al-Wasiti reported to us from Ishaq ibn Yusuf al-Azraq, from Sufyan, from Ubaydullah ibn Umar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah arranged races for conditioned horses from al-Hafya to Thaniyyat al-Wada, a distance of six miles. Horses that had not been conditioned were raced from Thaniyyat al-Wada to the mosque of Banu Zurayq, a distance of one mile. I was among those who raced, and my horse jumped with me over a wall.
Abu Isa said: Reports on this subject also come from Abu Hurairah, Jabir, Aishah, and Anas. This hadith is sahih hasan gharib through the report of al-Thawri.
