Qutaybah reported to us from al-Layth, from Ubaydullah ibn Umar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah said: A Muslim must hear and obey in what he likes and dislikes, so long as he is not commanded to commit an act of disobedience. If he is commanded to do so, then he owes no hearing and no obedience.
Abu Isa said: Reports on this subject also come from Ali, Imran ibn Husayn, and al-Hakam ibn Amr al-Ghifari. This hadith is hasan sahih.
