Qutaybah reported to us from al-Layth, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, from the Prophet, who said: Every one of you is a shepherd, and every one of you is accountable for his flock. The ruler over the people is a shepherd, accountable for his flock. A man is a shepherd over his household and is accountable for them. A woman is a shepherd over her husband’s household and is accountable for it. An enslaved person is a shepherd over his master’s property and is accountable for it. Indeed, every one of you is a shepherd, and every one of you is accountable for his flock.
Abu Isa said: Reports on this subject also come from Abu Hurairah, Anas, and Abu Musa. The reports of Abu Musa and Anas are not preserved. The report of Ibn Umar is hasan sahih.

The Arabic says the ruler over ‘the people’; the English witness specifies ‘the Muslims.’
فَالأَمِيرُ الَّذِي عَلَى النَّاسِ رَاعٍ
The Arabic says al-nas, ‘the people,’ without the specification ‘Muslims.’
Should the English witness’s added qualifier be checked against the source edition?
