Sharik transmitted this report from al-A mash, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet, with similar wording; he did not include the link ‘from Abu Yahya.’ Abu Kurayb reported this to us from Yahya ibn Adam, from Sharik. Abu Muawiyah transmitted it from al-A mash, from Mujahid, from the Prophet, with similar wording. Abu Yahya is al-Qattat al-Kufi; it is said that his name was Zadhan.
Abu Isa said: Reports on this subject also come from Talhah, Jabir, Abu Said, and Ikrash ibn Dhuwayb.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic distinguishes the variants: Sharik’s route includes Ibn Abbas but omits Abu Yahya, while Abu Muawiyah’s route is from Mujahid directly from the Prophet.
