Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1711

Muhammad ibn al-Wazir al-Wasiti reported to us from Ishaq ibn Yusuf al-Azraq, from Sufyan, from Ubaydullah ibn Umar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who said: I was presented to the Messenger of Allah for service with an army when I was fourteen, but he did not accept me. Then I was presented to him with an army the following year, when I was fifteen, and he accepted me.

Nafi said: I related this hadith to Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, and he said: This is the boundary between a minor and an adult. Then he wrote that stipends should be assigned to those who had reached fifteen.
