Al-Hasan ibn Ali al-Khallal narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Dawud ibn Abi Hind informed us: Amir narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah prohibited marrying a woman together with her paternal aunt, or marrying the paternal aunt together with her brother's daughter; and prohibited marrying a woman together with her maternal aunt, or marrying the maternal aunt together with her sister's daughter. The younger and the older may not be married together, nor the older and the younger. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurairah is hasan sahih. Scholars generally act on this: we know of no disagreement among them that a man may not be married to a woman and her paternal aunt, or a woman and her maternal aunt at the same time. If he marries a woman together with her paternal or maternal aunt, or marries the aunt together with her brother's daughter, the later marriage is annulled. Most scholars hold this view. Abu Isa said: Al-Sha'bi met Abu Hurairah and narrated from him. I asked Muhammad about this, and he said it is sound. Abu Isa said: Al-Sha'bi also narrated from a man, from Abu Hurairah.
