Narrated Abu Musa: The Messenger of Allah was asked about a man who fights out of bravery, one who fights to defend himself or others, and one who fights to be seen. Which of them fights in the cause of Allah? He replied: Whoever fights so that the word of Allah is supreme is fighting in the cause of Allah.
A report on this subject is also narrated from Umar. This hadith is Hasan Sahih.
