حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، قَالَ مَرَّ بِي خَالِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ نِيَارٍ وَمَعَهُ لِوَاءٌ فَقُلْتُ أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلَى رَجُلٍ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةَ أَبِيهِ أَنْ آتِيَهُ بِرَأْسِهِ . قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ قُرَّةَ الْمُزَنِيِّ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ الْبَرَاءِ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ . وَقَدْ رَوَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ عَنْ عَدِيٍّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ عَنْ عَدِيٍّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ عَنْ خَالِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم .

Al-Barāʾ said: “My maternal uncle, Abū Burdah ibn Niyār, passed by carrying a banner. I asked him where he was going, and he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah sent me to a man who married his father’s wife, ordering me to bring him his head.’” A report on this subject is also narrated from Qurrah al-Muzanī. Abū ʿĪsā said: This is a ḥasan gharīb hadith. Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq narrated it from ʿAdī ibn Thābit, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd, from al-Barāʾ. It has also been narrated from Ashʿath, from ʿAdī, from Yazīd ibn al-Barāʾ, from his father, and from Ashʿath, from ʿAdī, from Yazīd ibn al-Barāʾ, from his maternal uncle, from the Prophet.
