The Book of Virtue, Enjoining Good Manners, and Joining of the Ties of Kinship

Abu Dharr reported that the Prophet said to me: Do not consider any good deed insignificant, even meeting your brother with a cheerful face.

Abu Musa reported that when someone came to the Messenger of Allah with a request, he turned to those sitting with him and said: Intercede, and you will be rewarded. May Allah decree through the tongue of His Prophet what He wills.

Abu Musa reported that the Prophet said: The example of a good companion and a bad companion is that of the seller of musk and the one who works the bellows. The seller of musk may give you some, you may buy some from him, or you may find a pleasant fragrance from him. The one who works the bellows may burn your clothes, or you may find an offensive smell from him.

Aishah reported: A woman came to me with her two daughters and asked me for something. I had nothing but one date, so I gave it to her. She took it, divided it between her daughters, and ate none of it. Then she got up and left with her daughters. The Prophet came to me, and I told him her story. He said: Whoever is tested with daughters and treats them well, they will be a shield for him from the Fire.

Aishah reported: A poor woman came to me carrying her two daughters. I gave her three dates. She gave each daughter one date and raised the third to her mouth to eat. Her daughters asked her for it, so she split the date she had intended to eat between them. I admired what she did and mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah. He said: Allah has made Paradise obligatory for her because of this, or freed her from the Fire because of it.

Anas ibn Malik reported that the Messenger of Allah said: Whoever cares for two girls until they reach maturity will come on the Day of Resurrection with me, like this. He joined his fingers together.

Abu Said al-Khudri reported: A woman came to the Messenger of Allah and said: Men have taken all your teaching, so set aside a day for us to come to you and learn what Allah has taught you. He said: Gather on such-and-such a day. They gathered, and the Messenger of Allah came to them and taught them what Allah had taught him. Then he said: No woman among you who sends three of her children ahead of her will fail to have them as a barrier for her from the Fire. A woman asked: And two, and two, and two? The Messenger of Allah said: And two, and two, and two.

They narrated a report with the same meaning through this chain. Both added, through Shuabah, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Asbahani, who said: I heard Abu Hazim report from Abu Hurayrah: Three who had not yet reached puberty.

Abu Hassan reported: I said to Abu Hurayrah: I have lost two sons. Will you tell us a hadith from the Messenger of Allah that will comfort us about our dead? He said: Yes. Their little ones are the little creatures of Paradise. One of them will meet his father—or his parents—and take hold of his garment—or his hand—as I am holding the edge of your garment now. He will not let go—or cease—until Allah admits him and his father into Paradise. In Suwayd narration he said: Abu al-Salil narrated to us. Ubayd Allah ibn Said also narrated this to me from Yahya, meaning Ibn Said, from al-Taymi with this chain. He said: Did you hear anything from the Messenger of Allah that would comfort us about our dead? He said: Yes.
