Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us: Abū ʿĀṣim narrated to us: Ibn Jurayj narrated to us: Mūsā ibn ʿUqbah informed me: Sālim ibn ʿAbdullāh informed me, from ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar, concerning a vision of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: 'I saw a dark-complexioned woman with disheveled hair leaving Medina until she stood at Mahyaʿah, which is al-Juḥfah. I interpreted her as the fever of Medina being transferred to al-Juḥfah.' He said: 'This hadith is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ gharīb.'

Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī al-Khallāl narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us: Maʿmar informed us, from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: 'At the end of time, a believer's vision will hardly ever prove false. Those whose speech is truest will have the truest visions. Visions are of three kinds: a good vision, which is glad tidings from Allah; a person speaking to himself; and a vision that grieves one, from Satan. If one of you sees a vision he dislikes, let him not tell anyone about it; let him get up and pray.' Abū Hurayrah said: 'Fetters please me, but I dislike the iron collar; fetters signify steadfastness in religion.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: 'A believer's vision is one part out of forty-six parts of prophethood.' Abū ʿĪsā said: 'ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī narrated this from Ayyūb as a report traced to the Prophet, while Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated it from Ayyūb as a Companion's statement.'

Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd al-Jawharī al-Baghdādī narrated to us: Abū al-Yamān narrated to us, from Shuʿayb—namely, Ibn Abī Ḥamzah—from Ibn Abī Ḥusayn—namely, ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Ḥusayn—from Nāfiʿ ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, from Abū Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'In a dream I saw two gold bracelets on my hands, and their matter troubled me. Then it was revealed to me to blow on them, so I blew on them and they flew away. I interpreted them as two liars who would emerge after me: one called Musaylimah, the man of al-Yamāmah, and al-ʿAnsī, the man of Ṣanʿāʾ.' He said: 'This hadith is ṣaḥīḥ ḥasan gharīb.'

Al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us: Maʿmar informed us, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbaydullāh ibn ʿAbdullāh, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said that Abū Hurayrah used to relate that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: 'Last night I saw a canopy from which clarified butter and honey were dripping. I saw people drawing from them with their hands, some taking much and some little. I saw a rope extending from heaven to earth, and I saw you, Messenger of Allah, grasp it and rise. Then a man after you grasped it and rose; then another man after him grasped it and rose. Then another man grasped it, but it broke with him; then it was joined for him, and he rose by it.' Abū Bakr said: 'O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be your ransom! By Allah, let me interpret it.' He said: 'Interpret it.' Abū Bakr said: 'The canopy is Islam. What dripped from it of clarified butter and honey is the Quran, its gentleness and sweetness. Those taking much and little are those who take much or little from the Quran. The rope extending from heaven to earth is the truth upon which you stand: you grasped it, and Allah raised you by it. Then another man after you will grasp it and rise by it; then another man after him will grasp it and rise by it. Then another man will grasp it and it will break with him; then it will be joined for him, and he will rise by it. O Messenger of Allah, tell me: was I right or mistaken?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'You were right in some things and mistaken in some.' He said: 'By my father and mother, tell me what I got wrong.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Do not swear.' He said: 'This hadith is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.'

Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us: Wahb ibn Jarīr ibn Ḥāzim narrated to us, from his father, from Abū Rajāʾ, from Samurah ibn Jundub, who said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had led us in the dawn prayer, he would turn to face the people and ask: 'Did any of you see a vision last night?' He said: 'This hadith is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.' This hadith is also reported through ʿAwf and Jarīr ibn Ḥāzim, from Abū Rajāʾ, from Samurah, from the Prophet, in a longer account. He said: Muḥammad ibn Bashshār transmitted this hadith in the same way from Wahb ibn Jarīr, in abbreviated form.
