Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr narrated to us: Yaḥyā ibn Yamān narrated to us, from Sufyān, from ʿUbayd Allāh, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought his sacrificial animal at Qudayd.

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man leading a sacrificial camel and said, “Ride it.” The man said, “It is a sacrificial camel.” He said, “Ride it, woe to you.”

ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad narrated to us: Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Hishām—the companion of al-Dastawāʾī—from Qatādah, from Anas ibn Mālik, that a sacrificial camel was brought past the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said, “Ride it.” The man said, “It is a sacrificial camel.” He said, “Ride it.” Anas said: I saw the man riding it alongside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with a sandal hanging around its neck.

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn Bishr al-ʿAbdī narrated to us: Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Sinān ibn Salamah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, that Dhuʾayb al-Khuzāʿī reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to send sacrificial camels with him and say: If one of them becomes injured and you fear it will die, slaughter it, dip its sandal in its blood, then mark its side with it. Neither you nor anyone travelling with you is to eat from it.

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah, ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad, and ʿAmr ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; they said: Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from Nājiya al-Khuzāʿī. The version transmitted by ʿAmr says that Nājiya was in charge of the sacrificial camels for the Prophet. He said: I asked, “Messenger of God, what should I do with a sacrificial camel that becomes injured?” He said, “Slaughter it, dip its sandal in its blood, mark its side with it, then leave it among the people so they may eat it.”

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: ʿĪsā ibn Yūnus narrated to us, from ʿUmar ibn Saʿīd ibn Abī Ḥusayn, from ʿUthmān ibn Abī Sulaymān, from ʿAlqamah ibn Naḍlah, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him), Abū Bakr, and ʿUmar died when the houses of Makkah were regarded as open holdings: whoever needed one lived in it, and whoever had no need let another live in it.

ʿĪsā ibn Ḥammād al-Miṣrī informed us: al-Layth ibn Saʿd informed us: ʿUqayl told me, from Muḥammad ibn Muslim, who said: Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf informed him that ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAdī ibn al-Ḥamrāʾ said to him: I saw the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) standing on his mount at al-Ḥazwarah, saying, “By God, you are the best land of God and the land of God most beloved to me. By God, had I not been driven out from you, I would not have left.”

Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr narrated to us: Yūnus ibn Bukayr narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq narrated to us: Abān ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan ibn Muslim ibn Yannāq, from Ṣafiyyah bint Shaybah, who said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) address the people in the year of the Conquest. He said, “People, God made Makkah sacred on the day He created the heavens and the earth, and it remains sacred until the Day of Resurrection. Its trees are not to be cut, its game is not to be frightened away, and its lost property is not to be taken except by someone who will announce it publicly.” al-ʿAbbās said, “Except for idhkhir grass, for it is used for houses and graves.” The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Except idhkhir.”

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: ʿAlī ibn Mushir and Ibn al-Fuḍayl narrated to us, from Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sābiṭ informed us, from ʿAyyāsh ibn Abī Rabīʿah al-Makhzūmī, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “This community will remain in a good state as long as it honors this sanctuary with the honor it is due. When they neglect that, they will perish.”

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr and Abū Usāmah narrated to us, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, from Khubayb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from Ḥafṣ ibn ʿĀṣim, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Faith will withdraw to Madinah just as a snake withdraws to its hole.”

Bakr ibn Khalaf narrated to us: Muʿādh ibn Hishām narrated to us: my father narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever among you is able to die in Madinah, let him do so, for I will bear witness for anyone who dies there.”

Abū Marwān Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān al-ʿUthmānī narrated to us: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Ḥāzim narrated to us, from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O God, Abraham is Your close friend and prophet, and You made Makkah sacred through Abraham. O God, I am Your servant and prophet, and I declare sacred what lies between the two lava fields.” Abū Marwān said: The two lava fields mean the two rocky tracts of Madinah.

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: ʿAbdah ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever intends harm against the people of Madinah, God will dissolve him as salt dissolves in water.”

Hannād ibn al-Sarī narrated to us: ʿAbdah narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Miknaf, who said: I heard Anas ibn Mālik say: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Indeed, Uḥud is a mountain that loves us and we love it. It stands at a threshold of Paradise, while ʿAyr stands at a threshold of the Fire.”

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: al-Muḥāribī narrated to us, from al-Shaybānī, from Wāṣil al-Aḥdab, from Shaqīq, who said: A man sent some dirhams with me as a gift to the House. I entered the House and found Shaybah seated on a chair, so I handed him the money. He asked whether it was mine. I said it was not, and that if it had been mine, I would not have brought it to him. He said: Since I had said that, he would tell me that ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb once sat where I was sitting and said he would not leave until he distributed the wealth of the Kaʿbah among the poor Muslims. Shaybah told him he would not do that. ʿUmar said he certainly would. Shaybah asked why, and explained that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had seen the wealth in its place, as had Abū Bakr, and they needed wealth more than ʿUmar did, yet neither moved it. ʿUmar stood up as he was and left.

Muḥammad ibn Abī ʿUmar al-ʿAdanī narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn Zayd al-ʿAmī narrated to us, from his father, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever spends Ramadan in Makkah, fasting and praying as much of it as he is able, God will record for him the reward of one hundred thousand Ramadans elsewhere. For every day, God will record the freeing of a slave; for every night, the freeing of a slave; for every day, carrying a horse in the cause of God; and for every day and every night, a good deed.”

Muḥammad ibn Abī ʿUmar al-ʿAdanī narrated to us: Dāwūd ibn ʿAjlān narrated to us, who said: We performed circumambulation with Abū ʿIqāl in the rain. When we finished, we went behind the Station. Abū ʿIqāl said: I performed circumambulation with Anas ibn Mālik in the rain. When we finished, we went to the Station and prayed two rakʿahs. Anas said to us, “Resume your deeds, for you have been forgiven.” He said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) told us this, and we performed circumambulation with him in the rain.

Ismāʿīl ibn Ḥafṣ al-Ubullahī narrated to us: Yaḥyā ibn Yamān narrated to us, from Ḥamzah ibn Ḥabīb al-Zayyāt, from Ḥumrān ibn Aʿyan, from Abū al-Ṭufayl, from Abū Saʿīd, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions performed Hajj on foot from Madinah to Makkah. He said, “Tie your waists with your lower garments.” He walked at a pace between walking and jogging.
